As you girls know, I love me a styled shoot and here's some gorgeous colourful vibes from one I organised myself at the end of last year with my silk flowers in full bloom.
You may have already seen it featured in the, ahem, world famous blog Bridal Musings earlier this year (secretly fist pumps the air) but I just had to write my own blog and show you more of this fabulous shoot.
I was delighted to work in partnership with US brand, Aforal. The queen of beautiful artificial stems and wedding accessories. They are one of the world's leading suppliers of faux, silk and dried flowers, and their vase and accessories collection is simply to die for. It's worth the postage fee for UK deliveries, as their selection of goodies are gorgeous and just cannot be found here. Trust me. I've looked.
For the shoot I used artificial fuchsia peonies, silk mustard chrysanthemum flowers and dirty blush tones, with white poppies and seeded eucalyptus to soften the look. Finished off with a skinny velvet green ribbon. Hello!
We went to get creative at Blossom Barn, based in Holmfirth. An adorable wedding venue, family owned and a real hidden gem. With high beams, exposed brick walls, hay bales, Instagram-able barn doors and surrounded by vast acres of its own land, Blossom Barn just screams 'weddings'.
Perfect for smaller weddings in the barn, or they can accommodate more people with teepee and marquee hire in their own slice of Yorkshire countryside. Their very popular with DIY weddings, or happy to provide you with local suppliers to help design your day with you.
I teamed up with my all time fave Natasha Cadman to shoot the day. Her style is soft, fine art and modern, no one captures my artificial flowers better, and she really is Leeds' best kept secret. So check out her work guys. Just how she effortlessly frames her subjects, and captures the feel of what you're after, I'll never really know. She instantly makes you feel at ease and is so cool and down to earth (and she doesn't even know how freaking awesome she is!) Basically she's one talented babe, oh and she does branding photography and new born shoots. Call her now!
Stationery is provided by Gray Starling Designs. Carolyn has worked in the fashion industry for many years and also had a children's clothing line, so her creativity is OFF THE CHART. I've worked with Carolyn many times and she absolutely nails the brief every time, matching her design colours with my silk flower displays. She's uber on trend, and her scroll table plans are both innovative and bloody gorgeous!
Cakes, and the dessert table of dreeeeeams, comes to you via Where the Ribbon Ends. Sister team Gayle and Anna provide the most incredible (and almost too pretty to eat!) cakes, doughnuts and cake pops you ever did see. Just check out their mini magnum cake pops below. Literally the cutest things ever!! I'll have 12 please.
Dresses have been provided from the Aisle, Ilkley. Katie, the owner of this stunning local boutique was inspired to start her own bridal store after her own wedding. Her range is meticulously hand picked and she only stocks the creme de la creme of bridal designers. Her dresses are timeless, easy to wear (and dance in) and hang beautifully off your frame. No meringues in sight, just elegant boho at its very best.
Styling and draping by the wonder woman that is Laura from Laura Lindsey Wed & Events. This girl had a vision of dip dyed hanging drapes from the high beams and boy was she right! Her style is second to none and she'll go above and beyond to get the look 'just right', including climbing high ladders that I just cannot cope with! I love her modern twist on traditional chair covers and ties. Definitely check her out to help style your day.
All Things Borrowed brought along the vintage table and mismatched chairs, giving me ALL the feels and immediately I wanted to redecorate my house. Often venues have very basic furniture so hiring some makes a big impact on the design for your wedding. See what other lovelies they have, including old school brass candles holders...swoon!
Last but not least, we worked with Nommi. Yes, she's just like Cher and Madonna, only having the single name and being a total f***ing Queen! She's my best friend and has years of experience in design and event planning and she totally brought this shoot to life and new levels. Give this girl some fabric, candles and a wooden log and she'll perform miracles. Her ideas and creativity blow my mind! Definitely hit her up for all your styling needs.
Thanks to our model Lauren who totally killed it and wore heels for 8 hours straight. She did her own hair and make up and she makes one hell of a model if you're in need of a professional gal who brings SO much fun and energy wherever she goes :)
From me, we've got two Autumn inspired bouquets with artificial flowers galore. And those silk flowers really pop against that lace dress and no worries about staining it, oh no, not here! Even though I've styled this shoot with the purple and mustard tones, you really can style faux flowers in any way that you like. Pastel silk flowers, Christmas artificial flowers, the seasons and themes are endless. And speaking of seasons, you can have ANY flower you like for you Summer or Winter wedding, because the down side of real, no matter how beautiful, you just cannot get peonies in Winter. But I can!
I also went a bit 'extra' (standard) and installed a hanging artificial flower chandelier. With silk foliage and amazing textures from the silk florals I decided to draw peoples eye's upwards and take in the barn and its features and beams in its full glory.

Enjoy, Dani x
