MY TOP WEDDING TRENDS FOR 2018

Hello my lovelies and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It feels like FOREVERRRR since I sat down and typed out a lil blog post for you all!
So, it's January (heavy sigh and post Xmas blues taking over!) and we're starting off our blogs this year with our top wedding trends to look out for in 2018!
If there's ANYTHING my brides have taught my in 2017 it's that the wedding rule book has officially been broken! Ripped, chewed up and thrown away. Every wedding I've been a part of has been truly unique and shown off the couples personality perfectly.
So if you're overwhelmed, I'm here to help. Grab a cuppa, pull up a seat and see what I'm predicting we'll see on the wedding scene in 2018...

1. WHAT TOP TABLE?
*
*
Only a couple of brides I worked with last year actually had a top table! I know right!? The. Top. Table. One of the longest standing wedding traditions. Gone. Forgotten. Not needed. Old fashioned. And I'm guessing it's not coming back any time soon. Brides and grooms are instead opting for all round tables, and 'sit where you like' seating plans. Would you abandon a Top Table with family and sit with your best friends as an alternative?

2. BLACK WEDDING GOWNS

*
Now, before you freak out, I mean a just a touch of black or black lace, ooh... or a black top on wedding gowns. OK maybe a lot of black! Last year we saw the rise of boho chic dresses, back details and even straps were back in town. But this year it's all about a little monochrome. I personally LOVE this trend and think it adds such a sophisticated look to any bridal gown.

3. SINGLE TIER WEDDING CAKES
*

*

Again, last year was a shake up with cake trends. We saw drip cakes, naked cakes, DIY cakes, copper cakes and marble icing to name but a few of the designs that took over our Instagram feed.
I'm predicting a Pinterest feast of single tied cakes this year. After the busy and show stopping creations of 2017, I'm looking out for a much simpler generation of sponge this year.

4. FLORAL HANGINGS AND WEDDING WREATHS

 *

*

And I'm talking BIG floral designs. Above tables and entrances. Large hoops and chandeliers dripping in foliage. Hanging wooden planks bursting with colours. Two of my favourite wedding venue styles to see these in are barns and tipis. Check out BAR EVENTS for their fabulous tipis and wedding packages. I'm certain that luxury eucalyptus stems are here to stay another year, and botanical ferns and cheese leaves and going to be gracing our Facebook feed again this Summer.

5. POSH VAN NOSH

*

Now, if there's one thing that I wish I knew about when I got married 5 years ago, it's this. Luxury street food vans! You can literally get any type of food to roll up at your wedding and cook up a feast. I LOVE this idea because a) you're supporting small businesses b) they make a great photo op and c) you can hire vans that are portable bars and there's even a prosecco-mobile. Here's the links to some of the best posh vans I've found and worked with.

Prosecco at Tiffanys - Prosecco van

The Little Seahorse - Seafood van

The Little Red Berry Bar - Cocktail Bar

The Rabbit Hole - Travelling Coffee stand

The Pizza Kitchen - Mobile Wood Fire Pizza

6. ULTRA VIOLET - COLOUR OF THE YEAR

For this one, I've brought in Siân Chaplin from Chaplin Events. She's Yorkshire's most exciting new wedding planner and her work and style is simply gorgeous.

*

"If you love a bit of purple then you are in luck! Ultra Violet is the Pantone colour for 2018 and there's lots of ways you can incorporate it into your wedding day without going over the top. From stationery design to pretty calligraphy place names and beautiful violet bouquets and florals. I think my favourite so far has to be the ultra violet lollipops with the edible flowers. They would make perfect favours and most definitely go down a treat with your guest!"

*SPECIAL OFFER * Siân is currently offering 20% off her on day co-ordination services.

You can check out Siân's Ultra Violet Pinterest page HERE

And her website HERE

So there you go! I hope you're feeling inspired and ready to have a fabulous 2018 wedding.
Let me know what your favourite idea is below, or if you have your own predictions, then I'd love you to leave a comment.
